Lambs – Lambs – Lambs!

Our lambing season came and went in a whirlwind 8 days – leaving us with 33 new lambs.  All but two are frisking out in the field with their relieved and much slimmer moms, while two are being bottle fed after being rejected by their mothers. We have 50% more lambs than last year and most will be for sale for freezer lamb or eid sacrifices this fall.  Contact us if interested in reserving your lamb – leave a message for Rifqa Parrino at  717-573-4722.

It has been a blessing to be one of Rifqah P’s assistants during this year’s lambing season. For one thing, I learned firsthand all that is involved with caring for the sheep and I deeply appreciate all that Rifqah lovingly and meticulously does for these beautiful animals. I had the thrill of assisting one of our ewes with her third of three babies – solo. Two of our babies are being bottle fed and some of the moments I have treasured have been while sitting and holding the babies and giving them the love. It reminds me of how I used to feel when nursing my babies – that special feeling of Unity that permeates the space. This time with the lambs has opened up a new space of love in me and I am so grateful. Last night, I was watching the herd in the pasture. The moms were munching and the babies were boinging. They were so funny I had to laugh out loud. Please take your chance to come and watch them frolick and prance and boing. They would make any accomplished ballerina jealous!
