CSA Help Wanted

2018 Interns – Now hiring $1,000/month. We are interviewing for two full-time interns in our organic CSA garden in a beautiful setting in south-central Pennsylvania!  Approximately March through December.  Under the supervision of  CSA manager Matt Belmont, you’ll learn all aspects of organic-compliant growing, from mixing starter soil, using soil blockers, seeding, watering and hardening off starts, transplanting, mulching, weeding, trellising, fertilizing, and harvesting.  We grow outdoors as well as in 2 high tunnels and 2 low tunnels.    Compensation includes $1000/month stipend, garden produce, and housing/utilities.  Applicants should 21 or older and in sufficient physical condition to work long hours outdoors in all weather. No drinking/drugs, and absolutely no tobacco use (because of the risk of tobacco mosaic virus infecting our plants).  To apply, email CSA “at” farmofpeace.com, or call Matt at (443) 632-7402.

Short term / part-time: We have a part-time option, work 4 hours a day, 3 days a week, and 6 hours on harvest day (Wednesday, choice of morning or evening shifts), learning organic agriculture techniques; the rest of the time is yours to explore the area or relax on the farm.  We are within a 2 hour drive of DC and Baltimore and 20 minutes’ drive from the C&O canal towpath and rail trail in Hancock, MD, where bike rentals are available.  Berkeley Springs, WV is only 25 minutes away, with small shops, art galleries, spas, restaurants and antique stores. In exchange we offer free room and utilities, garden produce as available, and $50 a week food stipend.  Due to limited housing we cannot host children, pets or non-working spouses/companions. To arrange a short-term working visit, call Matt at (443) 632-7402.
