Animals

Little lambie just a few weeks old

The Farm of Peace is home to many animals. The staff will be happy to introduce you if you want to meet them up close.

Our standard donkey gelding, Ralph,  is nearly 40 years old. His best buddy is Eeyore, a 4-year-old miniature donkey. They both love peppermints, apples, carrots and bread.

We have a flock of about 20 Tunis ewes, who had 33 lambs this spring. The lambs are born reddish brown and develop white wool as they grow up.  We raise our sheep mostly for meat, and they also produce wool.

We keep a small flock of laying hens of different varieties and colors. Visitors can collect eggs from the chicken coop, and enjoy them for breakfast!  In the summer and fall we also have broiler chicks that we raise for meat.

Our friendly farm cats love to be petted and will often follow along on walks (when they’r not napping).   Animals aren’t permitted in the retreat center, out of respect for people who have allergies.
